Sacramento, CA – A neighbor called the Sacramento Police after witnessing a disturbing sight – a young boy, just 5-6 years of age, was choking a Pit bull in a nearby yard in the early evening hours on Tuesday.
When police officers arrived, they discovered sufficient evidence to warrant the removal of the dogs and the children, from the home.
Five children were taken into protective custody and two dogs were removed by animal control after officers observed “deplorable” conditions at the home located in the 2200 block of Arliss Way.
The dogs were reportedly malnourished and in poor condition.
The 32 yr-old mother faces charges of animal cruelty and child neglect.
How incredibly sad that a young child was observed choking the dog – what had he witnessed being done to the dog prior to this incident? How many times had that same dog been abused by others in the home?
Thankfully someone saw what was happening and took the time to phone the police – and thankfully, the authorities responded and addressed the situation instead of walking away….
