Learning how to make changes on your own profile is very important, because that's the way you present yourself to the community. The quotes you may use on your signature, your personal text, your picture and information on your profile may cause a great impact on other users since that personalizes you more than if you just leave everything blank.
So I thought the first tutorial I would create would be about how to update your forum's profile. Let's get started.
First click on the button “Profile” on the top menu.
Now click on the “Edit” button
You will find four tabs: “User Account”, “Profile Information”, “Avatar Image” and “Forum Settings”. You may change your default e-mail address and password under “User Account”. You should also select there your “Front-end Language”(if you are in USA you may feel more comfortable selecting English -United States). For “User Editor” leave it as “Editor – JCE 1.5.6” and don't forget to select your time zone.
The “Profile Information” area is where you can add a “Personal Text”, which is actually an “About You” text, or something that would describe you in a few words. Then you can fill in the blanks with your personal information and at the very bottom of that section you can add your signature, which will be displayed everytime you add a comment or post any articles on the forum. You are allowed to use BBCodes, which can help you change the color of the fonts, or add effects like bold, italics, underline, etc. Since the signature input area does not have any buttons where you can click on to add those effects, I will give you the most commun ones so you can just copy and paste them.
Bold:
Your text here
Italics:
Your text here
Underline:
Your text here
Red fonts:
Your text here
Dark blue fonts:
Your text here
Light blue fonts:
Your text here
Green fonts:
Your text here
Violet fonts:
Your text here
Align left:
Your text here
Align center:
Your text here
Align right:
Your text here

=> I like getting pictures from www.photobucket.com. I just do a search using keywords that describe the kind of images I'm looking for, then when I find the picture that I like, I click where it says "IMG code" and that automatically copies the code on my clipboard so I can paste it to my “Signature” section.
Let me give you an example of how you may use the BBCodes for your signature. Let's say I want the text “My signature is beautiful” in bold, italics and blue fonts and underneath that text I would like the picture of a flower which would be aligned to the center. This is the way I would do it:
My signature is beautiful

Now let's move to the “Avatar Image” tab. We can add, change or remove our profile's picture from here. To add a picture we have two options. We can select one from the gallery and then click on the button “Save”
or we can upload one from our computer's hard drive. To upload a picture just click on “Browse”, select the image you want and then click on “Save” at the bottom.
The last tab is “Forum Settings”.
From there you may set your “Preferred Message Ordering”. The options are:
Default: This is actually the same as “First post first” Last post first: This is the one I prefer First post first
Hide E-mail: Yes/No Show Online: Yes/No
Once you are happy and satisfied with your settings and the information entered, you can just click on the “Save” button. Remember you can change or update your profile as many times as you want. I guess this is part of the fun of the forum, being able to change your signature, your picture, your personal text, etc. Ready to try? Remember if you have any questions, you can always post them on the forum or send me an instant message and I'll be more than glad to help you.
